What is a Traineeship?

A traineeship is where an employee works within your business and is also studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.

In order for structured training to be considered a traineeship, a Training Contract is signed by both the employer and trainee and registered with the NSW Department of Educationand Training (DET).

Training is delivered by PTS, a Registered Training Organisation, which has to meet stringent standards to meet the requirements of the training package.

Why employ a Trainee?

  • They receive "On the job" training and development
  • Training is knowledge based and increases ability and effectiveness in the office
  • Provides increased underpinning knowledge of Real Estate agency

Financial Incentives

Employers may be eligible to receive financial incentives from the Federal Government for employing trainees and encouraging them to increase their skills and knowledge. These incentives typically amount to $4,000 per eligible trainee.

incentives are paid in 2 stages:
Stage 1 - $ 1,500 can be claimed after the 3rd month
Stage 2 - $ 2,500 is claimed after completion

The federal incentive is used to pay for cost of training and assessment

For New Entrants (those enrolling within the first 3 months of full time employmentor 12 months of part time employment), some of PTS training and assessment fees may be paid through NSW State incentives (subject to the trainee meeting eligibility criteria). Enrolment Fees are payable to PTS for New Entrant Trainees.
